According to the dictionary calm is defined as:

  1. not showing or feeling nervousness, anger, or other emotions;
  2. the absence of violent or confrontational activity within a place or group.

Synonyms: serene, tranquil, relaxed, unruffled, unperturbed, unflustered, untroubled.

  • This has been one of the most difficult tools to attain, but it has proven to be so helpful in our family in certain situations.

  • This tool in the toolbox is for the adults and by transmission, becomes true to the kids.

  • This tool is essential for the adults or caregivers.  

  • In our situation, we were guided to practice calm based on feedback from our team and assisted to learn how to do so.

  • I would encourage other parents to seek support from their teams to gain the personal insight and self-regulation tools they will need to best raise a child with Fragile X.
